- Giant seamless, multi-projector video screens are here for real.
- Electronic Large-Format cinematography can be displayed.
Bigger plus sharper is better.
Neither is better without the other.
In the early 1980's Metavision's creative director, Peter iNova, developed multi-screen, multi-projector synchronized video and presentations were made in this format for Mattel Toys, Universal Studios and Rockwell International among others.
iNova then made the process seamless by overlapping the projectors and blending the images together with custom electronic hardware. It sounds simple but the subtleties of doing it right have driven a number of producers and engineers slowly mad or broke or both.
Several patents have been secured by Metavision on the process and a whole new company has been spun-off to develop the technologies and market them to the world. Panoram Technologies, Inc., makes complete systems for computer visualization and theatrical display.
All over the world, the invisibly seamless displays that use Video Panoram are known for their superior quality. Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems and SGI own and market these systems to their advanced visualization customers.
The Video Panoram technique is used for Immersive Media Center displays, IMC.
Sometimes what you don't see, in this case--the seam, can help you.
The award winning displays of Panoram Technologies have grown into a large and varied series of products and Metavision is always finding new ways to feature them in projects. New for 2000 is the triple screen PV-230 DSK, one of the most beautiful and practical displays for power visualization. You will see more at the Panoram Technologies web site.
