METAVISION FIRSTS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

In the twenty five year history of Metavision the company has received dozens and dozens of first place awards for various productions.
Beyond that there have been a whole string of achievements that can only be categorized as Out and Out Firsts. Here's a list:
>1979 First ever Gold AMI (Association for Multi Image) award is given to Metavision for our 5 screen multi-projector "Vivitar" show.
>1980 First appearance of DiamondVision at All Star game in Dodger Stadium with media, control system and direction by Metavision.
>1981 First time the Sci-Fi film special effect technique called "computer motion control" is used to animate models of the real Space Shuttle.
>1982-5 First productions are created by Metavision using multiple video projectors with synchronized video sources incorporating coordinated panoramic images and projector-to-projector special effects.
>1986 First seamless multi-projector tests leading to creation of the National Geographic Society's Video Panoram centennial presentation, Honoring the Earth, Seeking the Stars in 1988.
>1989 First of a series of patents are issued concerning the seamless Video Panoram process.
>1991 First successful deployment and recovery of multiple waterproof, shock mounted video cameras over Niagara Falls for Ride Niagara project.
>1992 First totally immersive, ultra-high resolution wrap-around computer display made using Video Panoram seamless display is demonstrated at SIGGRAPH in Orlando, Florida.
>1992 First video disc based shoot-em-up video game installs in Panasonic pavilion at Universal's City Walk attraction. Players gain Paparazzi points by shooting a wild Hollywood party with a video camcorder.
>1993 First spin-off company born from Metavision. Panoram Technologies, Inc. commercializes Metavision's video panoram technologies.
>1993 First 360° special effects production, Dinosaur Adventure, uses digital video, High Definition Video and advanced computer techniques.
>1994 First large scale theme park installation with Metavision as prime contractor is created for Energy Land in Japan. Called Jurassic Tour, the international $6.5 million project completes smoothly in 10 months, on time and on budget. Attendance increases 30%.
>1995 First pop-up theater called Cinema The Dream installs in Shochiku Cinema World, Ofuna, Japan where it becomes THE must-see attraction on America Street.
>1996 First all-computer digital post production of a seamless Video Panoram show happens at Metavision for A World of Champions show for Discovery Channel Theater at Coca Cola Olympic City.
>1996 First Immersive Media Center (IMC)opens at Metavision using 120° group virtual reality projection and interactive supercomputer graphics.
>1997 First public multi-screen HD display and largest computer graphic special effect ever created installs at Las Vegas Hilton as Metavision's Windows Into Space premiers in the SpaceQuest Casino. One continuous scene over 20 minutes plays 24 hours per day on an enormous 3 pane rear projection display 80 feet wide.
>1998 First 18 screen animation. World's widest commercial or largest computer graphic billboard is created for IMAX's Race for Atlantis attraction at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas. Twisting heads twice every hour, this display uses no less than 18 video resolution screens arranged in a continuous arc of 270°. Each screen is 19 feet wide. The animation was generated as a single giant image over 3 times as wide as an IMAX frame and sliced into the 18 video feeds for presentation.
>1998 First AniMural. On display at Café Odyssey in the Mall of America near Minneapolis, this environmental medium creates a moving, weather and day/night cycle animation by projecting computer generated images over a special type of painted mural.
>1999 First Digital 24-frame film. Kennedy Space Center's signature film Quest for Life opened at the Cape Kennedy Visitor Complex in April, 1999. Projected in 35mm film, the film spans over three billion years of time and takes audiences along on explorations to find life beyond Earth. Designed and directed by Metavision's Creative Director, Peter Inova, the film's writer and producer was Richard Dowling. Quest for Life won the Santa Clarita International Film Festival Award as Best Educational Film of the Year and three other major film awards so far.
>2000 First New NASA attraction, Exploration in the New Millennium. An entire 12000 sq ft facility that presents two multiscreen shows, a 50 foot long thousand year history of exploration mural, 3D views of Mars, a chance to reach out and touch a meteor from mars, interactive displays and a theater for live events. Culminating the attraction is the hilarious show, SpaceRace 3000 which looks at interstellar space ships and a surprise from a thousand years from now.
>2000 First Multiscreen show for Hallmark Cards. At the Kansas City headquarters of Americas "Very Best" company, their visitor center has a three screen show that celebrates the spirit of Hallmark Creativity. Written and produced by Metavision the show enthralls audiences of all ages.
