QuBIT

Metavision contracted with the QuVis Corporation in 1996 to develop a special, custom recording device capable of playing large scale, high definition video in real time for Metavision's Windows Into Space project for the Las Vegas Hilton.

The technology available from them at the time was not designed to make images of this nature, but it was an advanced, high data rate recorder, so Metavision's researchers had to quickly digest this new technology in order to extended it into to this new application.

At our request, QuVis created a new type of video server that stored images at very high definition in a specially designed version of their QuBit Intelligent Recorder. (our High Definition Video frames are 13% larger than the 720p HDTV standard)

These images, each frame of which is a wide format, non-standard 2:1 aspect, are film resolution, 30 frames per second and digitally perfect. For more about the QuBit products visit their website.
