She's a good ship, the Laser Belle. She's light, she's trim, she's in the lead.

Until events launched four years ago back near Earth catch up with this light-sail interstellar spacecraft. The Laser Belle carries no fuel. Her propulsion is supplied by a tight, powerful laser beam that pushes her along on photons launched from a special power station somewhere near the orbit of Mercury where the sun shines bright.
